Tuesday Tips: Aging Furniture with Satin Finish & Glaze

Last week I posted my tutorial on CeCe Caldwell’s Aging Dust and had a few questions on how to create a similar aged look using CeCe Caldwell’s Satin Finish. Well, here is a dresser I aged using this technique.

To learn how to age furniture using CeCe Caldwell’s Satin Finish & CeCe Caldwell’s Clear Glaze follow these steps:

1.  After painting and distressing (I use baby wipes) put on a coat of CeCe Caldwell’s Satin Finish using a foam brush.

2. Pour a small amount of clear glaze in a plastic cup or bowl. Using a little Virginia Chestnut tint the glaze. I like to drizzle just a little in and stir. I do this until I get a tea stain color.

3.  Dip the tip of a soft brush in the tinted glaze. Brush off on a paper plate or brown paper until your brush is almost dry. Now dry brush on your piece of furniture moving with and against the grain working in sections. Always finish moving the brush with the grain.

4.  Seal with a coat of CeCe Caldwell’s Satin Finish.
